Questions and Answers
A
remote power switch with cord
, controlled by a small key-chain
remote control
. You can wirelessly turn the power on and off. Plug in one device, or an adapter for multiple devices, or a power strip to this unit, and you can use the remote transmitter to turn it on and off up to 300 feet away.
This unit can be paired with the
4-circuit contactor
switch to
remotely shutoff
and turn on multiple circuits in the house.
3-prong. 13 Amp. Heavy Duty. UL Approved
Q:
Can you explain for those of us who don't understand wiring and electrical issues, but who are hyper-sensitive to EMF's and want to know how this device can be useful to us? Thank you for all you do!

A:
This is a remote-controlled outlet. It comes with a small wireless transmitter (the transmitter DOES put out radiofrequency (RF) radiation, but only when you press the on or off button - so it is very quick and it's an analog signal - we're not concerned about a signal like this).
So even from far away, from the other side of the house, etc, you can turn this outlet on and off. Anything you plug into it will turn on/off when you use the remote control. The remote can go 100 feet or so and through walls - depends on building materials of course and distance varies.
Examples of what we use this for are things like:
1) being able to turn a WiFi router on/off when needed
2) Combining with the 4-circuit contactor switch (temporarily unavailable) to shut off multiple circuits in the house.
3) Wiring it directly to turn on/off a circuit (check electrical codes, have an electrician do this!)
4) Turn on/off hard to reach devices/power strips that power electronics/computers or other hard-to-reach things that you'd like to turn on/off completely.
5) stopping the electric and magnetic fields associated with live electrical wiring and electrical load
Hopefully this answers your question. Please let us know if we can provide more info! Thank you for your interest and supporting our work!!!

Q:
Regarding this product, is the remote control run by batteries? As a "Safe Technology Educator", I would certainly hope it is not a wireless remote. Please advise. Thank you, Gloria

A:
The remote uses batteries and is a wireless remote. It is a very quick, brief signal only the moment the button is pressed. Neither the unit nor the remote give off any radiation normally - only the remote gives off radiation for a split second when the on or off button is pressed. We are therefore not worried about this tiny analog exposure for a split second.

Q:
Can I order two remotes per plug? I currently have this item, use it everyday and love it. Two remotes would be more convenient to keep in multiple locations and helpful for the times I misplace one.

A:
The way to have two remotes would be to order two units and specify in your order comments that you would like the two units to be onnthe same channel. You will then receive two remotes and two stitches (reveivers). You can use either remote to control both switches when they are on the same channel.
