It is almost impossible to keep track of all of the smart meter fires and related safety issues. We jump from country to country and from state to state.  The latest issue is in Florida where Lakeland Electric will soon begin replacing 10,657 residential smart meters over concerns they might overheat, General Manager Joel Ivy said Tuesday, August 26th.

While this is a pro-smart meter propaganda piece, there is a short section at the end about opting out. In England, the utilities and the state are not forcing customers to take smart meters. Instead, they offer an easy opt-out program when the utility contacts the homeowner about installing the smart meter. Did you catch that? The utility contacts the homeowner first and gives them the choice to opt out. Wow. Why don't we have that courtesy and choice in the Land of the Free™?

Recently, I had the opportunity to measure the RF Radiation coming from an ITRON C1SR in Summerland, British Columbia, and the results were quite alarming.  This is an Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) type of meter. This type of meter has been reported to being used in Nelson and Grand Forks BC.
